What is Speech Therapy?
Speech therapy is a specialized clinical service designed to assess, identify, and treat communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. These disorders can impact a person’s ability to speak, understand language, express thoughts, or swallow safely. Speech therapy is provided by professionals known as speech-language pathologists (SLPs), sometimes referred to as speech therapists. These challenges may happen in response to a stroke, cancer, Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, brain injury, or simply with aging. Your speech-language pathologist will work with you to create a treatment plan that fits your needs and explain each step along the way. Using evidenced-based techniques, speech therapists may involve exercises to strengthen the muscles used in speech and swallowing, activities to improve language development, and strategies to assist with communication. Patients are guided throught these techniques by their therapist and then practiced at home to build skills in everyday life. Family members and caregivers can also learn helpful strategies to support you in reaching your goals.

Individualized Care
At your first visit, your speech therapist will take time to get to know you. They you will learn about your personal and medical history, listen to your concerns, and may do some simple assessments if needed. Most importantly, they'll learn about your interests and your "why" - the things that matter most to you. Every person is unique, and we're here to make therapy feel meaningful, enjoyable, and tailored just for you.

Reaching Your Goals
Our goal is to help you reach YOUR goals. Sometimes the skills we work on in speech therapy- like ordering your favorite coffee, making a to do list, or playing a family game - are things most of us don't think twice about until they become harder to do. Together, we'll focus on the areas that are important to you and your daily life. Therapy may involve building new skills or finding helpful strategies to make things easier. Speech therapy isn't just about words - it's about connection. We want you to feel confident, supported, and more connected to the people and activities you love.
